Some background.
Sarah A. Lavoie, AIA
Sarah Lavoie is the Principal of Lavoie Design Shop Architecture, which she founded in 2021. Sarah grew up in suburban Massachusetts and received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Syracuse University in 2001 that included a year of study abroad in Florence, Italy. Sarah worked at Barnes Vanze Architects in Washington DC and The Brooklyn Studio in NYC before moving cross-country to Portland in 2007. After working at Hacker and most recently at Emerick Architects, Sarah sought a more focused role in architectural practice and design by beginning her own firm.
Sarah is a registered architect in the state of Oregon and a member of the American Institute of Architects. She holds a certificate from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council of Oregon, and is a LEED accredited professional. Locally, she is a member of the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce and volunteers through the Lake Oswego CERT program while also being a member of the Bryant neighborhood emergency preparedness committee. Sarah is a member of the Lake Oswego School District Bond Committee while also being a coordinator for the art literacy program at Lakeridge Middle School.
Lavoie Design Shop is a State of Oregon COBID certified Emerging Small Business and Woman Business Enterprise (certification no. 14508).
Sarah is married to an architect and the mother of two boys, ages 13 and 15. She is also an attentive mom to two rescues: a dalmation + pitbull (sweet) and wire-haired terrier (crazy), who keep everyone on their toes.
